Infinity is a song about love. It is a song where the guy is looking back on their relationship, recounting his feelings and some of the more memorable events. It is about the closeness he felt towards her, “do you remember those nights with the lights down low? Just bright enough to see into each others soul.” The title of the song (and the main theme) came from one of those sappy sayings that couples have. Yes, it is also a saying made famous by Buzz Lightyear “To infinity and beyond!” But I like to think it isn’t quite a cheesy as it sounds. But that’s what being in love is all about…saying cheesy things and not caring what the people around you think (or how much your sappiness makes them want to vomit). It also talks about their life together and what the future holds.

Track 1 – Brand New

I wrote Brand New after thinking about how I felt after I had been dating my last girlfriend for a couple of months. I just remember feeling like we could be something. I felt like, together, we could do anything. Nothing was impossible with her by my side. I felt a new sense of possibility rush over me. I wasn’t looking for a relationship at all. I was just minding my own business when she walked into my life and took over. It caught me completely off guard but I didn’t mind. We dated for a while and I wrote this song about the feelings I had and the thoughts going through my head regarding if she felt the same way.

City and Colour – “Little Hell”

"Little Hell" - City and Colour

I was a little late to the game in regards to this band. Dallas Green is frontman for City and Colour (basically the only man) as well as frontman for Alexisonfire which is a much noisier and heavier type of music. I purchased Little Hell in September of 2011. I create playlists in iTunes for each month and then add all of the new music I buy that month into the corresponding playlist.

Anyway, once I downloaded this record I didn’t listen to anything else for about 3 or 4 weeks. I try to stay current with music so I buy quite a bit of it but I just couldn’t stop listening to this record. I guess it is because I was in a place in life where I really connected with his lyrics and the content of the songs. But also, it is really chill and calming music that has a way of putting me at ease whenever I’m feeling tense.

In an interview Dallas Green says, “Little Hell just kind of made sense to me. Not just because I like the song a whole lot, it’s one of my favorites. But I kind of feel like life is all about the sort of little hell’s that you have to go through…to get through it. There’s always the ame trials and tribulations that you have to go through in order to get to the things that you want.”

It would be impossible for me to choose a favorite song off the record. I can seriously say there is not a bad one on there, in my opinion. Once I boughed this album and listened to it for a month or so I went and bought all of his previous records. Below is a video of studio footage along with Dallas talking about the album. The process they chose to use when recording this album was really neat and I think the environment in which they cut the record really influenced the vide and sound of the album as a whole. The Camp House

I had a blast playing my new tunes for all of you. It was really cool being able to play full band since I usually just perform with just me and a guitar. I want to thank the guys (and gal) that played in my band Saturday night. You guys rock! I sent off my album yesterday for digital distribution and download cards! Very exciting stuff. I would have liked to get actual CDs pressed but being on a college kid budget didn’t really allow for that. In case you didn’t know, the album release date is April 7th. It will be available on itunes, amazon, and all other digital music retailers. I will post links as soon as I get them. Also, I will be having an album release party/show April 7th, 8pm at The Camp House in downtown Chattanooga. I would love it if you came out and celebrated with me. My friends Grow & Twine and Chandler Baldwin will be playing some of their tunes to start the night off. Trust me…they are G-O-O-D!

Also, I am still working on my album. Don’t worry, I haven’t given up on it! I have been a little bit busy with finishing up my last semester in school, working, and starting a small business with a handful of really awesome, creative people. I am joining forces with a video guy, two photographers, a graphic designer, and two “A&R” guys. We are starting a production company in Chattanooga TN. The studio is located in downtown Chattanooga on the North Shore. One of my engineer friends from Nashville is moving down here in May to help me run the studio. I am beyond excited about the potential for this thing and can’t wait to get it going!

In other news, I am working on a new website with the help of my friend Adam which will hopefully be up and running soon. I am also in the process of booking gigs for spring and summer!

Lots of exciting things happening right now and I hope you will continue to stay up-to date by checking back here often.

I went up to Nashville a couple of weeks ago to track electric guitars with Nathan Johnson. They added so much to the overall feel of the tunes. I couldn’t be more pleased with how it turned out. I am now waiting to get keys, pads, and organ stuff back from my friend Max Mitchell out in LA. Can’t wait to hear what he adds! After I get those I will get started mixing. I am shooting for a late March release but school just started, I’m working a lot, and I’m working on some exciting things back home in Chattanooga. I’ll keep you posted on that as well.

In other news, I will be playing a show in Murfreesboro next Thursday Jan. 26th. I will be opening for Chandler Baldwin’s CD release show. I am super excited! If you know me, you know I don’t play out much at all so I hope it goes well. It’s free….so if you’re free then come on out. I’l be playing a handful of songs from my album so you don’t want to miss it.
